A wire edge??? The term used in sharpening to describe a thin wire or foil-like piece of flexible metal at the apex of the tool.

It indicated you have met both bevels during the sharpening process and is a good sign you are doing things right.

You can just see this with the naked eye. It will easily move when touches as though it were a bit of aluminum foil.

This wire edge is then removed through honing and polishing to leave a razor sharp edge

Green wood workers do most of the shaping whilst the wood still has allot of moisture in it as the wood is much softer. After the wood is dry I then typically go over everything again leaving a silky smooth finish with the knife!

Well that's one way to fix a crack in a cup 🦵 🕷️

Just finished this cup when a little crack showed himself 😔 a bit of glue does the trick fine for me, but I would not send an order out to someone knowing there was a Mended split in it.

These things can be frustrating parts of being a cup maker, but can also offer up the opportunity to release some creativity!
