Blacksmithing – Forge your own knife (3-4th November)

6 in stock

This is backyard forging, aimed at people wanting to learn the basic skills of forging their own knives with simple and readily available resources.

You will learn how to select the right metal and then we will go through the process step by step of cutting, shaping and all the heat treating cycles to make a high quality wood carving blade.

On the second day we will make our custom made handle from Scottish timber. We will learn how to sharpen the blade like a pro and finally fix the blade into your handle.

As much freshly made coffee or tea as you can take are included in the course cost.

All materials and tools are supplied. Though we never expect mishaps, Wooden Tom is First Aid trained and holds full Public Liability Insurance.

All courses are held in beautiful oak woodlands on the Inshriach estate, just outside of Aviemore. For more information on location and surroundings, click here.

For cancellations you need to give one months notice or no refund will be given.
