Unsure about what is the best wood for carving. How to harvest it? What are the best tools for the job? This course we will head into thew forest on the hunt for the best wood for making spoons. After we have harvested our wood we will learn how to make a a spoon of our own design. Carving a spoon is an iconic starting point in green wood working as you spend a full day learning to be confident with the carving axe and knife (the main tools of this activity). With expert tuition from Wooden Tom, you will be guided to safely use hand tools such as a knife and axe to create your own Highlands kuksa cup or whisky quaich to take home.
This is a great course to learn many of the grounding skills in one day which are transferable on to other carving projects.

As much freshly made coffee or tea as you can take are included in the course cost. At the end of the day there will be a chance to buy some of the tools you have used if you like.
All materials and tools are supplied. Though we never expect mishaps, Wooden Tom is First Aid trained and holds full Public Liability Insurance.
