The quaich: Scotland’s cup of friendship
“Quaich” is a Scots rendering of the Gaelic word “cuach”, meaning cup.
The quaich is designed to be a sharing cup but with the extra large quaich this does not need to mean you loose out on your fill of your favourite single malt. Perfect for sharing amongst a large group of people such as a wedding as it holds over 400ml which is 12 Scottish drams or over half a bottle of whisky!
Most quaichs sold today are mass produced in pewter or silver plate. Originally however, the quaich had more humble beginnings being carved from a single piece of wood, most probably by Highland crofters and lathe workers. Metal quaichs came later to attend to the refined needs of the wealthier Scots. So when you share a dram from a hand-carved wooden quaich like this one, you are getting back to the roots of a true working Highlander!

Care instructions
To love your cup, rinse with warm soapy water and leave to dry. Do not leave to soak in water and don’t wash in the dishwasher.
